Day 1 (BB)
Arrive at Cape Town International Airport where you will be met by a Madikela Tours representative and escorted to your overnight accommodation in Cape Town.
Day 2 (DBB) - 270 km
Today we make our way to Lambertsbaai via the beautiful and well known wine region of the Western Cape. After departing Cape Town we visit a wine estate in the Paarl area. Following a light lunch we head north towards Lambertsbaai in time for sunset over the Atlantic Ocean and a delicious meal at the famous Muisbosskerm restaurant - a must for any seafood lover.
Day 3, 4 (BB) - 570 km
Departing early after breakfast we head for the South African-Namibian border. After approximately a 6 hour drive through stunning desert landscapes we reach the banks of the Gariep River where we spend a relaxing day at the lodge. Here we will have the opportunity to participate in different water activities and visit the nearby reed village.
Day 5 (DBB) - 200 km
Taking the dirt roads north you will experience the remoteness of Namibia as we head to the second largest canyon in the world – the Fish River canyon. After visiting the canyon we make our way to Canyõn Road House were we overnight.
Day 6, 7 (DBB) - 650 km
Starting early we head out towards Solitaire. At Solitaire Guest Farm we stay two nights and from here we will explore the great sand dunes at Sossusvlei and the Sesriem canyon. Day seven sees us departing before daybreak to reach the Soussusvlei Park gates at sunrise to take advantage of the early morning light for great pictures and long lasting memories.
Day 8, 9 (BB) - 160 km
We spend these two days at the well-known coastal town of Swakopmund. After an “easy” drive from Solitaire we arrive for lunch in town and have the afternoon at leisure. Day 9 is a free day for the different activities available in and around the area. However the dolphin watching boat trip is highly recommended.
Day 10, 11 (DBB) - 580 km
Etosha National Park is today’s destination. After arriving at Okaukuejo camp we have the afternoon to relax at the pool or drive through the Park to view wildlife in our own vehicle. This evening you may choose to spend at the lookout by the watering hole or participate in an optional night game drive offered by the Park. On day eleven we have the whole day to spend in the Park to enjoy what nature has to offer.
Day 12 (BB) - 450 km
Heading south we make our way to Windhoek - Namibia’s capital city. This compact and green city situated on the Khomas Highland Plateau is the social, economic and cultural centre of the country.
Day 13 (DBB) - 500 km
After a short drive to the Botswana border we begin to cross the Kalahari and reach Ghanzi Trail blazers Lodge in several hours. Here we have the opportunity to interact with the well-known but rare culture of the Koi San. We stay in traditional huts and have the pleasure to see these astonishing people perform some of their traditional dances around the campfire. Enjoy an optional walk with these local people and hear about their traditional life in the Kalahari bush.
Day 14 (BB) - 320 km
From Ghanzi we head towards the tourist Capital of Botswana - Maun. Here we will use the rest of the day to relax before venturing out into Moremi Nature reserve the following day. If time permits we can arrange an optional scenic flight over the spectacular Okavango delta - recommended.
Day 15,16 (FB) +/- 400 km
The next two days we will need our 4x4 to get around in one of the most beautiful parks in Africa. Here, in the hart of the Park we spend two nights camping enjoying all the sounds and smells of the African night.
Day 17, 18 (DBB) - 200 km
After an exciting 4x4 experience, we arrive in the town of Kasane. With all the camping behind us we enjoy the luxuries of a lodge for these two days. Included in the stay is a boat trip out onto the Chobe River and during our stay in Kasane an optional day visit to the Victoria Waterfall can be arranged - recommended. (Note: Visas may be required for Zambia or Zimbabwe depending on your nationality.)
Day 19 (DBB) - 300 km
After Kasane we slowly point the vehicle in a southerly direction, back to South Africa. Tonight we go as far as Elephant Sands – a lodge true to its name. You will likely be lucky enough to see the elephants at the natural waterhole right in front of the lodge. Watch these impressive creatures while they drink and play in the mud only a couple of meters away from you.
Day 20 (DBB) - 550 km
Tonight we return to South Africa. After crossing the border we spend our last night at Ehlathini Lodge - a jewel with a view hidden away in the African Bush
Day 21 - 350 km
After breakfast we continue our southward journey towards Gauteng, the smallest but most populated province in South Africa. We reach O.R Tambo International airport in time for your flight back home.
